Halo 3 is coming up fast and as part of the gearing up, we are going to have a HalOmega Membership drive to get this community rolling and ready.

So here's what we're going to do:

We're going to have a HalOmega.com Membership Drive complete with chances at cool prizes for all of the HalOmega members who choose to participate.

Here's how it will work.... Anyone can participate in the membership drive. There is no obligation or purchase required.

All Halomega members will be awarded 1 point by clicking a link and following the directions in the weekly Halomega newsletter. Every point = 1 chance at a prize we will be drawing for on August 15th. The next HalOmega email newsletter will be going out Friday August 3rd. make sure you get your email addresses updated in your profile if they aren't current to make sure you get one. (If you have a current email address and still don't receive a newsletter, send me a PM and I will get you taken care of.)

BUT WAIT!!! There are ways to increase your points (and chances to win).

Referral System:

1 point per referral
5 bonus points if your referral hits 10 posts before the draw date. 'Me too' posts do not qualify.
If your referral hits the 10 post mark, you will be responsible for sending me a link to their profile for verification.

Links:
Get an inbound link to halomega.com someplace? Heck, that's worth some points...
2 point per verified inbound link (max 1 link per domain/site)
1 bonus point if the link uses preferred text
1 bonus point if the link is from a .edu page.
You will be required to pm me a link to the URL where the link has been placed in order to get credit.

Activity:

1 point for every 5 threads started with at least 2 replies.
Meaning you must have started 5 threads and all 5 threads must have at least 2 replies (that aren't you). 'Me too' posts don't count as replies. Again, you will be responsible for sending me a PM with a link to any posts you think qualify.

The 'Gimmie' Point:
1 point for clicking the link inside of the Halomega email newsletter.

There will be a link at the bottom of the newsletter for the Halomega Membership Drive. All you need to do to make sure you get the Halomega newsletter is make sure the email address in your member profile is current. Click the link and follow the instructions to enter yourself in the drawing.


Clarifications:

'Me Too' Posts:
A 'Me too' post is a one or two word post/reply. For example posting 'yes, I agree' or 'that is a cool site' or 'Hi, i'm Mike' aren't going to count.

Links:
1 domain counts as 1 link. In other words, if you add a link to your sig line in some blog or forum where you have 5,000 posts/comments, that still counts as 1 link.

Preferred text:
Link text are the words that are actually hyperlinked/clickable in a link. A link back to Halomega.com using the text of:
halo forum
halo 3 forum
halo 2 forum
halo videos (must link to videos.halo.com)
halo 3 videos (must link to videos.halo.com)

Will receive 1 bonus point per link.

Links from any .edu domain will earn you an extra point too. So if you link back to Halomega.com using the text Halo Forum from somesite.edu, that would be
2 points for the link
1 bonus for the link text
1 bonus for the .edu
so 4 points total.

Of course, the prizes...

We will be drawing winners at noon on August 15th. Prizes will be shipped as soon as they are available. Obviously the Halo games won't ship until the 25th of Sept. but the recharge kits will go out immediately.

There have been a few questions about how to go about gaining additional points for the drawing. The original post is kinda long, so here's teh short version of how to get points:

You get 1 point for clicking the link in the HalOmega Newsletter and send me a PM (the link just takes you to a new message box to me).

You get 1 point for every new member that signs up and lists you as their referrer. You get 5 bonus points if that new member makes 10 posts.

You get 2 points for every link you get for HalOmega.com. You get 1 bonus point if that link uses the preferred text (see original post). You get 1 bonus point if the link is coming from a .edu site.

You get 1 point for every 5 threads you start with at least 2 replies that aren't you. In other words if you start 12 threads but only 7 of them have 2 or more replies you get 1 point. If you start 20 threads and they all get 2 or more replies, that would be an extra 4 points.

To be credited for your links, threads, and referral's posts you have to send me a PM with links to where I can go see them.
