Hi... Well, I'm 18 and play Halo 2. I hate Halo 3 honestly, I find it junk compared to good old Halo 2 maybe I've played Halo 2 so much and I can't see myself detaching from it, but I don't care ^_^
I won' ever stop having Halo 2 lan parties, and I don't really play on XBL. I create free Silver accounts on friend's 360 then Play Halo 2, but other than that I regularly use XBC if I play online at all.
Just joining a Halo community and this seemed pretty good, I suppose I will find out in a bit, but I do own my own website and will be in my sig once I get my profile set up. I'm working on a montage right now, Nothing huge. Just getting a Program, going through 1,000+ songs to find the right one for my first official one, and working on building a library of videos to use. I have a 500 GB hard drive so I will have the ability to have a numerous amount of shots to choose from
I also am working on a game for my website, Browser based. Text/Pictures basically, but its in closed beta with 20 members currently playing and helping me out that I have hand picked.

Anyways, XBC is servers driven by users. The application of who is hosting can see the ping of other players, as so can the players in the room. So if I host, you will be connected to me. It connects through system link, the program on your computer just opens ports so that it makes your xbox think its in a LAN. I have XBC Pro, so I can Ban people from my room. Like Colombians *no offense* but they just lag american games. :\
You might know this, but just saying it so if other people get curious You meet a whole lot more dedicated players, and people who like to play for fun. You can also have a Clan if you pay for Pro. *1 time pay of $14* I like it, just if you find the right people it can be a blast. All my videos are me playing on XBC.

or if you can achieve 185-200 kb/s upload. or some companies will just say 1.5Mb/s which stands for Bits people... not bytes >_> hate when people complain about that. Just a way to trick you. If you ever see 11,000 Kb/s that means you just got 11,000 Kilabits. There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So divide whatever number you have by 8 and thats the real download speed you can get. :P Just a side note
But, back to the subject, If you can upload at 1.5Mb/s or 180-200 kb/s. You can host around 6-8 People. An average Ping for a good game should be around 100ms - 180ms. You can go for higher with less people in a room. But remember that larger is bad. 60 ms or lower than 100 will generally mean they are on Cable internet. Anyone with anything larger than 250 will lag a game. It won't hurt you because you are hosting, but it will effect other players drastically and make them complain. >_> Trust me.
